Global Warming - Image Makeover fr. The Bob & Tom Show

7:08 minutes (6.54 MB)

Let me start by saying personally, I enjoy global warming. It's hot, controversial, it's in a movie - it's the Jenna Jameson of environmental catastrophes.

Scientists say global warming will hurt the food supply. I don't see how - all our food will be pre-cooked. We'll pick baked apples off the tree; live turkeys will baste in their own juices. Things will be grilled right ON George Foreman.

Tune in to The Bob & Tom Radio Show this Thursday, June 28th!

Listen up! I'm going to be on The Bob & Tom Radio Show on Thursday morning doing another Image Makeover piece. This time, I'm tackling the anti-global warming campaign and it's gonna be HOT! Early birds, I'll be on the air at around 8:00 am. To find out where The Bob and Tom Radio Show airs near you, click here. And if you miss the show, I'll be adding the segment to the audio section on my site soon enough.

Be sure to tune in, Paul

New Feature in Punchline Magazine: “How I Single-Handedly Stopped a Train & Lived to Tell About It”

My friends over at Punchline Magazine recently asked me to write a guest blog for the site. So I decided to tell the truth and nothing but the truth about something really crazy that happened to me a few weeks ago. I was taking the train to Maryland to meet up with some friends for a sailing trip when a strange but entirely true incident involving me, an Amtrak conductor and several police officers occurred. In short, there was a slight altercation and I almost got arrested. All I wanted to do was go fishing, but hey, what can you do?

Ask Me Anything: June Fan Q&A

Q: I’ve seen the Sports Central pilot [Paul’s sports comedy show] and loved it – hilarious! Did you ever play sports and were you any good?

A: Yes, women’s field hockey. And no, I was not very good – I was very self conscious in a skirt. Actually, my sport while growing up was swimming – butterfly and freestyle were my best strokes. I was actually pretty good and won a bunch of medals which was cool. Unfortunately, my dad had to sell them all to pay for his failed business venture into faux mutton chops.

Q: It looks like you’re on tour all over the country. What’s the strangest place you ever visited while being out on the road?

A: A wax museum right after a huge fire… lots of discarded glass eye balls.

Q: Tell me something about yourself only your mother would know.

A: I was a mistake... And I’m double jointed in my fingers, which is great at parties. I can bend my pinky to touch the back of my hand.

Wow, I don't think I've ever felt so exposed! Email your questions for next month’s newsletter to submissions@paulmecurio.com. Talk to you soon, Paul

All The News That's Fit to Print

Lately I've been talking my head off, both on and off the stage. I did a few really fun interviews with some comedy publications recently including The Apiary, Punchline Magazine and CRACKED.com. I think the interviewers might have slipped me a little something because they really got down to the nitty gritty. I don't think I've ever felt so exposed! If you'd like to read more about the inner workings of Sir Paul Mecurio and discover all the ways to touch my heart and soul, check them out!

Whenever I go on tour, I always take a break to ham it up with the reporters and stop in the local radio stations to hang out and jabber. A few weeks ago, I was in Sarasota at 107.9 WSRZ and the host even gave me some chicken wings, one of the many perks from doing interviews (you can even see me chowing down here). You know, I never really get any swag, which is unfortunate. Maybe I can arrange to be on the receiving end for all of Paris Hilton's free swag bags while she's in the slammer! I've always wanted a pink swarovski crystal encrusted cell phone! Wishful thinking, I know... But hey, be sure to check out the press page on my site for more stories!

See you in the news, Paul

Florida Sunshine + New Photos!

After terrible weather in the Northeast, last week I got to bask in the sun in Sarasota, FL. Well, not really. The truth is I slept in pretty much every morning. I was totally hung over from my late night performances, but the sun still looked nice and warm from my bed. While in town, I did an interview with Creative Loafing. Check it out here!

All in all, I had a great time at McCurdy's Comedy Theater, as always. The shows were SOLD OUT and the crowds were awesome. A big THANK YOU to all the folks who came out again to see me and brought new fans. You made it a week to remember! The staff was totally cool as usual. I really can’t get enough of the place! If you’re ever down in Sarasota, be sure to check out McCurdy’s.

For all you Florida fans, I just uploaded a new gallery with photos from the club. Check it out and thanks again for all the laughs and the hangover... Hey, anybody got some aspirin?

See you around, Paul

Weird Food and The Bob & Tom All Stars in IL & KS, April 27-28

For the past couple of months, I've been traveling all over the country with The Bob and Tom All Stars. It's been an exciting run, with sold out shows and awesome crowds. We'll be bringing the tour to Peoria, Illinois on April 27th and Wichita, Kansas on April 28th. I'll be joined by some great comics including Sean Morey, Donnie Barker & the Pork Pistols, Chick McGee and more. For more information on the tour, check out www.bobandtom.com

One of the strangest things about life on the road is that you get introduced to a lot of weird food. I was just in Iowa a few weeks ago and stopped by Ross' Diner where I had the privilege of tasting the "Magic Mountain" which is a dish of Texas toast, ground beef, Velveeta cheese, onions AND home fries. Who woulda' thought? Back in Cincinnati, I tasted the local "Five Way Chili" – a mind-boggling concoction mixing spaghetti, chili, beans, onions, and loads of cheddar cheese. After the Magic Mountain and the 5-Way, my stomach is ready for ANYTHING! Bring it on Illinois and Kansas!

Hope you can catch a show!

Paul
